UX / GAME DESIGNER

Tahir’s Playbook challenges players to track their eating, drinking and exercise habits, and engage in a series of mini-games across the week to level up their fitness and prepare for the “Big Game”. At the end of each week, the player collaborates with their team in the “Big Game” while competing against the opposing team. Only the team with the most energy will emerge victorious!

I was responsible for overhauling the current UX system and with creating two new football themed minigames.

RESPONSIBILITIES

UI Overhaul

Coming on to this project, I was tasked with overhauling the flow and UX of the menus to be quicker and simplified. This included meal entry for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner, activity time and intensity, and number of beverages consumed. Instead of going through several menus for each, I simplified it into one menu for all food groups, driven by sliders that go from "None" to "A Lot" and the food images and slider knobs changing depending on amount.

Infinte Runner

The Infinite Runner was one of the two new football themed minigames I designed. Since Tahir's Playbook has avatar creation, I thought it would be cool to have the player's avatar be represented in one of the games and be more interactive than just the main scene. The endless runner fit in with football offense well and allowed me to create level chunks with opposing defense players and training equipment.

Interception

The other new football minigame is the Interception game which is defense themed. Despite being Tahir's Playbook, Tahir Whitehead never appears in-game besides tutorials and to remind players to input their food and exercise. I really wanted Tahir to be in one of the games and, being defense based, the interception game made the most sense. So players train with Tahir, a linebacker, and improve their timing skills similar to a rhythm game.
